I got something done in the last days
0 Comments Published August 12th, 2006 in FreeBSD, Ports Collection, kernel, linuxulator, sound system, userlandWow, some of the TODO items in the last post are done:
emu10k1 lower priority on attach (allows emu10kx to attach when loaded too)
sade committed (and code improved)
And I did some more things:
emu10kx fixes (submitted by Yuriy)
enhancement of the bsd to linux errno mapping (submitted by “Intron”)
added some more files to ObsoleteFiles.inc (submitted by kris@)
had a [...]
Not much happened in the last days. I talked with my SoC 2006 students and helped them a little bit with knowledge and testing. I also did commit some fixes for the envy24 driver to current.
ATM I have some holidays. So I think I should get some more time do to some stuff in FreeBSD… [...]
snd_emu10kx imported into -current
0 Comments Published July 15th, 2006 in FreeBSD, kernel, sound systemI imported the emu10kx driver into -current. It was already available from ports, and may replace the emu10k1 driver in the future. Currently both are available as a module, just in case there are some problems.
Some days of mentoring…
1 Comment Published July 8th, 2006 in FreeBSD, Ports Collection, kernel, linuxulator, sound systemIn the last days I spend my free time with mentoring Boris and the SoC students. Boris is maybe ready to fly solo now (and he already got implicit aproval for several things from me), but I will keep an eye on him from time to time for some more weeks.
The linuxolator SoC project progresses [...]
A little bit of cleanup
0 Comments Published June 18th, 2006 in FreeBSD, docs, kernel, linuxulator, sound systemI committed a little bit of cleanup / some XXX comments to the soundsystem, extended the linux(4) man page a little bit and removed some alpha specific section 4 man pages which where overlooked at the time alpha was removed from current.
I think I will enjoy the sun in the backyard a little bit now… [...]
I committed the 5 year old envy24 driver by Katsurajima Naoto. Konstantin Dimitrov spend some time to fix some bugs and to add support for some more soundcards. Currently supported / known to work are:
M-Audio Audiophile 2496
M-Audio Delta Dio 2496
Terratec DMX 6fire
Reports about other working devices are welcome.
There are some known problems too, they are [...]
Bikesheds, FC4 and SoC
1 Comment Published June 5th, 2006 in FreeBSD, Ports Collection, SoC 2006, docs, kernel, linuxulator, sound systemThe last week has seen some bikesheds. One of them was my commit of the doxygen infrastructure for the kernel subsystems. Some people don’t like the way doxygen requires some markup tags in the comments, some people don’t think such API docs provide additional value and some people fear that 3rd party developers may use [...]
I just committed the old-new midi code ftom tanimura and matk.Yuriy Tsibizov (of emu10kx fame) integrated it into current. I think it wil need a lot of work until it’s really mature, but as long as it isn’t in the tree, nearly nobody will have a look at it.
We need a maintainer for this!
I will [...]
Interesting Summer for FreeBSD
0 Comments Published May 25th, 2006 in FreeBSD, Ports Collection, SoC 2006, kernel, linuxulator, sound systemNow that we have (or “soon will have”) an official FreeBSD blog, I decided to give this kind of electronic and public diary a try. At least to report the status and progress of some FreeBSD related projects I’m involved in.
A lot happened in the last days. We’re past the deadline of the Google Summer [...]
